This attractive colour plate is one of a Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of The Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britian and Ireland as presented by F. O. Morris.

A greater proportion of the drawings were by Alexander F. Lydon, and printed from coloured wood-blocks using the Baxter process by Benjamin Fawcett.

Published by William Mackenzie, Ludgate Hill, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Condition: EXCELLENT CONDITION. The colors are rich and bright and the image shows elaborate detail and is in Excellent Condition. Blank on Reverse side and printed on heavy quality paper.

Excerpt from the old descriptive: COUGHTON COURT, NEAR BANBURY, OXFORDSHIRE, - NORTH.
Coughton is situated between Icknield Street and the river Arrow, about two miles from Alcester, in a finely wooded country, diversified by hills. - In the time of the Conqueror it was in the possession of Turchill de Warwick. - The original seat of this family was at Throckmorton, in the parish of Fladbury, in Worcestershire, which is still in their possession. - Some part of the house at Coughton was built when held by the Spineys. It was a quadrangle built round a court, and surrounded by a moat. The tower was erected by Sir George Throckmorton, in the reign of Henry the Eighth. The entrance formerly was over a bridge, which crossed the moat, and through the gateway of the tower into the quadrangle.

A copy of the circa 1870s descriptive, which covers some wonderful landscape history and some genealogy information will be included with the print.
