An American tourist travelled and wrote extensively of the attrations of England. Includes a comprehensive description of his travel through England and Wales, with nearly 500 drawing illustrations. Arranged in eight tours, starting with Liverpool and London. Cook relates in detail his travels through London Streets, Liverpool docks, Alnwick Castle in Devonshire and many other castles and remains, historic relics, abbeys, churches, houses, bridges, landmarks, country settings and seasides, etc. He visits the ancient fortresses of England and Wales, giving life to the people and customs, language and politics, and in-depth describes the history and character of these sites and towns. Attractive Green cloth boards and spine decorated with elaborate illustrations and designs in black and gold gilt. Gold gilt lettering on front board and spine. Spine ends and edges show mild wear. Front hinge cracked, just about loose. All page edges are beautiful gold gilt. One of the most extensive in coverage of England and Wales 19th Century travel books.
