CONDITION: Rare Chromolithograph. Folded in the middle. German Text.Very Good Condition. As Scanned. Image is clear and sharp with beautiful depth and detail and in Good Condition. Blank on Reverse side and printed on heavier paper. This beautiful print would look great matted and framed. An art supply store can provide you with a selection of frames for old art treasures.
Chromolithography was the first method for making true multi-color prints. (Before the chromolithograph, prints were colored in by hand.) First commercialized in the 1830s by Godefrey Engleman of France, it was based on lithography which used flat stone slabs on which an image is drawn on the surface, but used separate stones for separate colors or impressions.
