SHORT BIO: General Kelly-Kenny is an Irishman, as his name implies. He comes of a good fighting and sporting stock. A soldier by instinct, he owes his progress in his profession to merit alone. Born February 27th, 1840, he was gazetted to the 2nd. Queen's as Ensign, February 2nd, 1858. He had not been two years a subaltern when he was selected for Staff duties as Aide-de-Camp to the General Officer Commanding in South Africa. But he was not destined to remain Ion at the Cape, for the war having broken out in North China in 1860 he proceeded there in time to secure an appointment as Orderly Officer to Brigadier jephson, who took the ist Battalion of the Queen's from the Cape to join the Expeditionary Force. He did duty as such in the action of Sinho, when he was mentioned in despatches, and at the taking of Tangku and the Taku Forts. He thus won his first war medal with clasp.
VERY GOOD CONDITION. Printed on heavier textured-glossy type paper. The colors are very bright and clean It does have text on reverse side (doesn't show through the heavier textured type paper) which is a BIOGRAPHY relating to the portrait. A great Genealogy collectible item.
